'Healthy' veggies make us sicker than meat each year
According to the CDC, lettuce and other leafy greens are responsible for 2.2 million food-borne illnesses every year. And to make matters worse, produce (including fruit, vegetables and nuts) sickens 4.4 million people annually. Bet your mom didn't know that when she ordered you to eat your veggies as a kid. In comparison, contaminated meat causes just 2.1 million illnesses per year.
